| A fundamental
concept of blast design is the optimized controlled confinement of
explosive energy per given volume of rock, ie energy factor/powder
factor.
Irregularities in a rock face could result in a loss of confinement with potentially hazardous results. The accurate placement and loading of blast holes can only be accomplished with a precise understanding of the rock face profile. This profile can detect under burdened or over burdened areas, allowing the blaster to load the hole accordingly, thus reducing the risk of fly-rock, eliminate oversize and reduce ground vibration. |
